Today is International Women’s Day, and that means it’s a unique opportunity for you to celebrate the women in the world who are making a massive difference in our society.
The hard reality is, there’s still a large amount of inequality for women in the United States and across the world. On International Women’s Day, it’s our chance to make one small step towards leveling the scales by uplifting women throughout all walks of life.
When women are uplifted, there’s an even greater capacity for innovation, improvement, and positive change throughout society. The future truly is female. That’s why, in this article, we’re sharing four ways to celebrate International Women’s Day with the people around you!
FOUR WAYS TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
1. RECOGNIZE IMPACTFUL WOMEN IN YOUR LIFE
Everyone has women who have directly impacted their lives. Perhaps it was a teacher who believed in you, a relative who helped you, or even a close friend who has been a companion for you when times were hard.
It’s easy for the women closest to us to go unnoticed but now is your chance to change that. Write a note to a woman who directly impacted you or give them a call today. Let them know how much you appreciate them. You’ll totally make their day.
2. SUPPORT FEMALE-OWNED BUSINESSES
Supporting a female-owned business is a great way to celebrate International Women’s Day. By making a purchase from a female-owned business, you’re supporting the very women who are making strides towards equality for women in the business world every day. It’s so powerful.
Plus – you can start to make it a habit to shop from more female-owned businesses. When you do this as a regular practice, your impact is multiplied.
3. CELEBRATE FEMALE COWORKERS WHO ARE KILLING IT AT WORK
Undoubtedly, there are women in your workplace who are totally crushing it. Take time to recognize these women for how they have contributed professionally to your company.
You can send a note to one of your coworkers or if it’s appropriate, give them a shout out in a meeting, too.
4. READ THE STORY OF A WOMAN WHO MADE A DIFFERENCE THROUGH HISTORY
All throughout history, women have made a tremendous impact on the world. From leading movements to fighting for what’s right, these women’s’ stories deserve to be recognized
Take time to read a book or an article about women who have made a difference throughout history. When you do, you’ll have an even greater appreciation for the women around you who are changing the world today.

Right now, there’s lots of hype around International Women’s Day. It’s important, though, to not let the excitement die after this week.
Every day, women are trailblazing and making a huge impact on our society. When we take time to celebrate the women who are making a difference, we are taking one small step towards a more equitable world that recognizes and values men and women equally.
