It’s Time to Nominate: 2021 Impact Awards

It’s time to nominate.

Wait, it’s election season? Not quite. You know those people that have been #crushingit through the pandemic? The people that, even though the world is falling apart around them, still seem to be on top of email, volunteer at every soup kitchen, remember your birthday, and accomplish incredible things?

We all have a friend (or a few friends) that are like this. They are consistently leveling up, networking in bigger circles, reaching new goals, and yet don’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. While a text message saying, “you’re doing great!” is nice, we want to take things to the next level.

Which is why we’re thrilled to announce that nominations are open for the 2021 Impact Awards

Wait what are those?

The 2021 Impact Awards, presented by Spur Impact, are an opportunity for you to nominate a rising leader who is spurring impact in the community. Whether they are a non-profit leader, entrepreneur, community organizer, artistic inspiration, public official, or something completely different, the Impact Awards were created to highlight the young movers and shakers in Delaware doing just that: spurring impact.

This sounds time consuming.

More time consuming than a 45 minute TikTok session? We know it’s tough to find a spare 15 minutes of your day to recognize a friend or colleague. Just like it’s hard to peel yourself from cat videos and hilarious filters, #amiright?

We all have time in the day for a nomination form, and it’s becoming more and more important that we recognize our peers for the incredible work they do every day.

Why do you say that?

Because the world is in turmoil and contrary to popular belief, there are really inspiring and important things happening locally.

In fact, we think it’s even more important to talk about local community impact because that’s where we live, work, and socialize (well, from 3 feet of social distance with a #maskon). Highlighting the work of our smaller nonprofits, up and coming leaders, peers who are in one of their first jobs out of college, creative community organizers, and fresh entrepreneurs not only gives a platform to the individual being nominated, but inspires others too.

When we know more about the young people making moves in the community, we can better support, volunteer, contribute, and build. And without the critical support of others, businesses, nonprofits, and organizations may not last. That’s why we’re encouraging you to get creative and think about who deserves a virtual toast, a pat on the back, a high five from Spur Impact, and maybe a social media write up with a stunning graphic (definitely a social media write up with a stunning graphic).

Okay, you’ve convinced me. What do I do now?

Run, don’t walk. Open a new tab in your browser and nominate! The form is open now through Friday June 25, and we’re chomping at the bit to read about who you know. Winners will be announced in July on the Spur Impact website, AND they’ll be highlighted at the 2021 #MILLSUMMIT virtual conference, which is right around the corner, if you can believe it.

OMG I can’t believe it’s almost summer.

Us neither. We’re excited to kick off #MILLSUMMIT registration early next month, so mark your calendars for June 2.

With so many things to get excited about, how will you ever be able to concentrate on the rest of your work day?
