More than 100 different organizations are expected to send attendees to learn from 70+ speakers about leadership, service, and how you can take charge, get involved, and make an impact in your career and community
Wilmington, DE, July 10, 2017 – A diverse coalition of young professionals representing more than 60 different organizations throughout the state have been organizing the Millennial Summit, a new leadership and development conference. #MILLSUMMIT will be held on Tuesday, August 1 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Led by Charlie Vincent of Innovincent and Robert Herrera of the Mill, the Millennial Summit planning committee is bringing in dozens of international, national, regional, and local experts who are excited to connect with and help inspire the more than 250 professionals across Delaware and the Delaware Valley expected to attend the inaugural event.
"Our vision for the Millennial Summit has always been to create an experience for millennials and young professionals that helps them learn about ways they can make a meaningful impact in their career and in Delaware and the greater Delaware Valley region and meet others who are also interested in the same," says Charlie Vincent, Co-Founder of the Millennial Summit and President of Innovincent LLC, a Delaware consulting firm that is helping to organize and manage the Millennial Summit.
Robert Herrera, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of the Mill and the Millennial Summit, agrees. "Our generation has been getting more and more active with community organizations, nonprofits, and public service, but we don't always know how to get our voices heard or which groups are already focused on what we want to get involved with. The Millennial Summit solves that problem by bringing everyone together and get them plugged into these organizations."
There are more than 70 different speakers who will be part of different panel discussions and breakouts that attendees can choose from throughout the one day event. The lunch keynote address will be provided by Ambassador Vlora Çitaku, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in the United States, who at 37 is the youngest female ambassador in the world. A former refugee during the Kosovo War, she will provide a unique insight and perspective that is sure to captivate the audience.
Other more prominently known speakers and panelists at the Millennial Summit this year include John Carney (Governor, State of Delaware), Sara Fischer (Media Report, Axios), Javier Flaim (CEO, RecycleBank), Sarah McBride (National Press Secretary, Human Rights Campaign), Rick Deadwyler, Jr. (Vice President of Community Engagement, Delaware Community Foundation), Vered Nohi (Executive Director, Philadelphia-Isreal Chamber of Commerce), and Robert Buccini (Co-President of Buccini/Pollin Group). Representatives from organizations like Google, Microsoft, University of Delaware, and Christiana Care Health System will also be speaking at the Millennial Summit. More details about the speakers and schedule for the day are available on the website millsummit.com.
In addition to the different panels of the day, attendees will also get the opportunity to interact with many other organizations. Wilmington University, BNY-Mellon, and PNC Bank are hosting a business strategy simulation contest, where four high school ASPIRA club teams will be competing in the finals at the Millennial Summit. Rotarians from more than a dozen different Rotary Clubs will be attending the lunch as part of the summit's mentor-mentee aspect. WDEL will be onsite throughout the day and will be broadcasting the event live from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Ambassador will be giving a small press conference ahead of the lunch at approximately 11:30 a.m. The United Way of Delaware is also collecting books to be donated to children across the state as part of their goal to have every child reading on their grade level by 3rd grade. Many other organizations will have tables set up and also are attending the event. After the summit ends at 5 p.m., there will be a networking happy hour at the Wilmington Blue Rocks game which many speakers and attendees are expected to attend.
The registration prices range from $99 to $150/person depending on age, with discounts available for students and employees of nonprofits and government agencies. All attendees will also receive free giveaway bags from WhyFly, Wilmington's fastest ISP provider and the Wi-Fi provider for the event, as well as free business profile pictures on site courtesy of Foschi Photography. Attendees also get a reduced rate on the Blue Rocks networking game ticket ($10), which is otherwise $35/person and includes the game ticket, food, and a couple of free drinks thanks to Junior League of Delaware. Attendees will also be able to connect and interact with everyone throughout the day with the Millennial Summit 2017 app.
